Just hearing the title of this book makes my heart flutter. The place I lived in Korea was in the middle of a busy city. On the way to school, I could see many homeless people, and I was scared every time, and I couldn't understand them because they just seemed hopeless. And this book reminds me of a homeless man, so I read it with more interest.
Joe was a homeless man who sat on a bench all day long because he had no work, but the story is about how he became to stand with his own feet.
I was very pleased when I saw him got a cleaning job given by main character's father, and worked excitedly. It was the most beautiful scene.
As time goes by and as I do volunteer work, sometimes I think of this book. Everyone has the shining jewels hidden in his or her heart. Even though it looks like nothing now, If one has a chance to express it, he would shine very brightly. I hope that we would be able to bring it out and help it shine. It's a book that I want to recommend to my friends who feel like they're insignificant.
